I may not be a Perfection (100 's fandom name) but i really really love Rockhyun and his voice since the unit.I had heard one-two songs and i wanted to become a fan of them in this Easter break (since here we have about 2 weeks). 100 is a good and talented group. When i heard the news i couldn't believe it and started crying. I can't imagine how much more his family, members, friends and fans cried:( If you are a Perfection, you can make it through this! You will cry and be sad but you will make it through this! I am talking because i know the feeling. Please be strong<3 And finally MAY HE REST IN PEACE

[NEWS] GOT7, Monsta X & BTOB Debut on Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks Chart

0 1
close
profile_image Brooke 2017.04.17

Two K-pop acts pull a one-two punch in the top five of the Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks chart (dated Apr. 22), as GOT7 and Monsta X arrive with “Never Ever” and “Beautiful,” respectively. Meanwhile, further down the list, another K-pop act, BTOB, reaches the list for the first time, with “Movie.”

Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks is a weekly ranking of the most shared and/or mentioned songs on Twitter in the U.S., ranked by the volume of shares over a seven-day period (Monday-Sunday). The latest chart’s reflects data collected in the week ending April 9.

“Never Ever’s” roaring start comes after the group posted a “Never Ever” dance practice video on YouTube on April 8. The tweet earned 15,000 favorites and 7,400 retweets, while the practice clip has climbed to 655,000 global views through April 12.

The tune also picked up steam as the members of GOT7 participated in a “Never Ever” edition of the popular South Korean web series game “Ask in a Box,” which reached YouTube early in the morning of April 10 (hours before the chart’s close for the week on Sunday, April 9 in the United States). The game’s clip has soared to 660,000 global views to date.

“Ever” features on GOT7’s most recent EP, Flight Log: Arrival, which was released March 13. The set became the group’s fourth No. 1 effort on the World Albums chart and reached No. 3 on Heatseekers Albums.

Also in the top five, Monsta X’s “Beautiful” enters at No. 4, granting the act its first visit to the list. The song’s arrival is spurred by the release of an official acoustic performance of the song, posted to the group’s YouTube channel on April 3, which has earned 833,000 global views on YouTube.

“Beautiful” raced to No. 4 on the World Digital Song Sales chart, the group’s highest showing among six charted titles. The track features on the group’s The Clan, Pt. 2.5 [Beautiful] album, which reached No. 1 on the World Albums chart and gave the band its best sales week in the United States to date, and also climbed to No. 10 on the Heatseekers Albums chart.

The arrival of new videos also helps BTOB make its Top Tracks chart debut. The group starts at No. 18 with “Movie” after its choreography practice video was posted on YouTube on April 3. The snazzy clip, in which the members dress up in tuxedos and fedoras, has darted to 565,000 global plays on YouTube.

“Movie” also earned the group its first charting entry on the World Digital Song Sales chart, peaking at No. 25 on the list. The song features on the band’s most recent EP, Feel’em, which reached No. 15 on the World Albums chart, its first entry on the survey.

[NEWS] Monsta X Scores First No. 1 on World Albums Chart With 'Beautiful' LP

0 1
close
profile_image Brooke 2017.04.15

Monsta X marks the top spot by sending their first full-length album and its lead single to new heights on multiple Billboard charts this week.

The hip-hop-focused boy band see their The Clan, Pt. 2.5 [Beautiful] full-length debut at No. 1 on Billboard's World Albums chart. With more than 1,000 copies sold, Beautiful marks the band's best sales week in America to date.

Since last year, the group has been on a steady rise up the charts. Previously, the group had sent two iterations of their Clan releases to World Albums including the Part 1 (Lost) EP (which peaked at No. 5) and their Part 2 Guilty EP (No. 3).

Monsta X also makes their first appearance in the Top 10 of Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart, which sees many less K-pop acts. Beautiful debuts at the No. 10 slot on the chart marking only the third K-pop album to make the Top 10 after NCT 127's Limitless (No. 4) and GOT7's Flight Log: Arrival (No. 3). The septet's first appearance on the ranking was with The Clan 2.5 Pt. 2 Guilty EP that debuted at No. 16.

Monsta X reigns supreme over a competitive week filled with loads of new debuts. On this week's World Albums chart, there are debuts from CNBLUE (the K-pop/rock act's new EP titled 7 Degrees CN debuts at No. 8), Highlight (Can You Feel It?, the first EP from the band formerly known as Beast, starts at No. 9) and Pristin (the new girl group's debut EP Hi! Pristin enters at No. 10). Elsewhere, recent released by GOT7 and BTS also represent K-pop this week on World Albums.

Furthermore, Monsta X's new title track "Beautiful" debuts at No. 4 on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart. The powerful, electronic/hip-hop cut marks the band's best showing on this tally too.

[NEWS] MV & Album Review - The Clan Part 2.5 The Final Chapter / Beautiful

0 6
close
profile_image Brooke 2017.04.15

MONSTA X are finally back and ready to liven up the K-Pop scene with their "Beautiful" new song! Launching their first studio album and already taking over the charts, 'The Clan Part 2.5 The Final Chapter' is filled with sensational tracks that are daring in sound and style.

Their promotional track "Beautiful" lives up to the name as it incorporates a funky beat, echoing sounds and a blaring instrumental. Despite the rough and loud backtrack, MONSTA X's vocals stand out and carry the melody nicely, especially during the few changes in tempo.

The lyrics aren't anything new but surprisingly work well with this refreshing tune. The refrain's higher pitch is addictive as the boys say, "You're so beautiful, I can't take my eyes off of you," and "Just like a rose's thorn, I know I will get pricked but I still want you." The references to a woman's love being natural and strong like a flower is very empowering.

The MV is quite creative and entertaining to watch because of the intricate choreography. At first, it seemed to be emulating GOT7's "Never, Ever" in some minor ways, but once you look passed that you can appreciate the MV's originality. The dancing is well-thought out and has a variety of moves that leave you impressed. Visually, the boys look stunning, alluring and who can resist all the beautiful glitter in their hair and around their eyes? Certainly not me.

After being moved by their promo track, the rest of the 'The Clan Part 2.5 The Final Chapter' is no different. The album opens up with the heart-racing "Ready or Not."

The track already gets the party started as it opens up with a rough and quick-paced clapping alongside a high-pitched electronic styled instrumental. The song has a great refrain as the boys repeat "Are you ready or not?" alongside their addicting "Oh Oh Oh." Their rapping is well-suited for this kind of track.

After comes "Incomparable." Unfortunately, despite the fun and zany beat, this song isn't as interesting as the others. The song contains a lot of rises in tempo and a very energetic instrumental but their method of singing doesn't seem to flow or compliment the melody.

The album follows up with the fun and uplifting "I Need U" and it is definitely a redemption after "Incomparable." The song has that familiar R&B sound you can't help but bob your head along too.

The melody is more playful and charming with the snapping, whistling and delightful rapping alongside their smooth singing. It is easy to fall in love with "I Need U" on the first listen. Believe it or not, it even makes for an excellent dance track.

The boys continue to test the waters with their zany instrumentals in "Oi." The song is more fun and comes to life with their odd additions of background noises and carefree rapping style. Sadly, the song has a bridge that is more enjoyable than the bridge as it suddenly switches up styles and loses the flow from the start of the song.

After that, a more serious track comes along and changes the mood. "Miss You" is calming and more gentle on the ears with its simplistic melody and echoing instrumental. MONSTA X's vocals are impressive on this track as well as their rapping. The song doesn't seem scattered by the instrumental and marries nicely with the way the boys sing.

Once again, the party never ends because the boys bring back the energy with "Calm Down." Despite the cliche instrumental that was similar to their previous tracks, "Calm Down" is way more entertaining and impressive. The 1.5 increase in speed of the track is what really excites the listeners as MONSTA X play around with the melody as they tell you to "Stop - Calm Down, Let's stop, Calm Down." The track also has some drum line influences as well.

Like "I Need You," their song "All I Do" has a cheerful melody with great use of synthetic sounds and cooing-like vocals. If the easy-on-the-ears instrumental, that features a real smooth electric guitar riff, doesn't win you over then the addictive chorus will do the trick.

Finally, the highly anticipated ballad of the album arrives! "Last Page" is elegant and melts your heart like honey as the boys sing more gently and in a higher pitch. "Last Page" isn't as distracting or relying on an instrumental to become addictive as much as the other songs do. The song is still pretty upbeat for a ballad, making it a real earworm.

Lastly, the album closes with "I'll Be There." Another heartwarming ballad, yes, but it isn't as attention grabbing as "Last Page." However, this doesn't mean the chorus and singing aren't good. MONSTA X have angelic voices and it becomes obvious through the enchanting melody of "I'll Be There."

Overall, MONSTA X's first studio album 'The Clan Part 2.5 The Final Chapter' was a real great listen. The album offers variety and is a great playground for fans of electronic instrumentals. MONSTA X are able to demonstrate their vocal growth and capabilities over the years and delivered a well-executed album that has fans, and myself, anticipating what they will develop in the future!

[NEWS] MONSTA X's Shownu gave up some of his lines in 'Beautiful' for Hyungwon?

profile_image Brooke 2017.04.09

In a special feature by Mnet for MONSTA X's comeback with their first full album 'The Clan Part 2.5 - Beautiful', producers Star Wars, Brother Su, Safari M, and Risi talked about the making of the album.

When asked about memorable episodes, Star Wars answered, "One time, Shownu came up to me just before recording finished for the day and said, 'Hyung, don't you think the picture would be more effective if during this part a pretty guy like Hyungwon emerged?' In most idol groups, there are a lot of members and limited parts so no matter how close they are, they don't worry about other members' parts. When I heard him say that, it made me see how their teamwork or the way they think of one another is special."

Brother Su said, "One time, Wonho came over to my house to work on music, but we only gossiped for 4 hours and ate ramen. Then he went home." Producer Risi complimented the members on their improved singing as well, praising Hyungwon in particular.

They also revealed that MONSTA X really wished to win #1 with their comeback this time around and bid the boys best of luck for their upcoming promotions. Have you heard MONSTA X's new song "Beautiful" yet?
