EXO will be the first K-pop star to have a commemorative medal made.
On March 12, Korea Minting, Security, Printing & ID Card Operating Corp. (KOMSCO), a government-owned corporation responsible for printing Korea's currency, announced that it would be producing a commemorative medal dedicated to EXO to celebrate the top idol group's achievements.
KOMSCO has been producing commemorative coins and medals for national events such as '2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.' EXO was selected as the first K-pop group to have a medal made for its international popularity and contribution to the diffusion of the Korean Wave.
The front face of the medal will feature each member's face designed by a renown currency designer, and the back face will feature EXO's logo, along with special anti-counterfeiting measures. The accompanying warranty will include the medal's serial number.
