After BTS's performance at the 2017 American Music Awards, tweets related to BTS reached 20 million.

Shortly after that, the official Twitter for Guinness Book of World Records tweeted, "Congrats to @BTS_twt on a stellar performance at last night's @AMAs! The South Korean band has succeeded in earning a spot in this year's #GWR2018 edition for having the world's most @Twitter engagements for a music group!"

The "Twitter Engagements" section of the Guinness Book refers to the number of Twitter retweets. As of May 8, 2017, BTS had scored the record for the most Twitter retweets for a male music group with 152,112 retweets, according to Guinness. Since the numbers have grown since their performance at the AMAs, they have likely broken their own record.

Prior to BTS, Psy was the first Korean singer to be listed in the Guinness Book for five sections including the most popular music video on YouTube (Gangnam Style) and Gangnam Style dance with most number of participants.

Congratulations to BTS for the spectacular record!
